Home to the towns of Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Berrima, Bundanoon and many other villages, the Southern Highlands offers an idyllic country escape. Take time to enjoy a short break and relax. Well known for its colourful gardens, leisurely pursuits, diverse landscape, history and heritage, and welcoming accommodation.

Discover the rural delights of the beautiful Southern Highlands, from cool-climate wines and fresh seasonal produce to gorgeous gardens, spectacular waterfalls and wonderful national parks. Enjoy idyllic walks in the fresh country air, visit cellar doors for wine tasting, and explore colonial heritage.

Bowral is home to the annual Tulip Time Festival and the Bradman Museum and International Cricket Hall of Fame, which commemorates legendary Australian batsman Sir Don Bradman. A short drive southwest is historic Berrima and the convict-built Surveyor General Inn, a sandstone pub.

For breathtaking wilderness, visit the magnificent Fitzroy Falls in the vast Morton National Park. Near the village of Robertson is the splendid Belmore Falls. There are enjoyable bushwalks, such as the Lovers Walking Track, and exhilarating cycling trails near Bundanoon, a tourist destination since the 1920s.

Adventurers will revel in the activities available in Kangaroo Valley from Kayaking, to Horse Riding whilst those who indulge in a slower pace can enjoy the golf courses at both Kangaroo Valley and Bowral.

The South coast can be explored further from the Highlands to include places such as Gerringong, Gerroa and Jervis Bay which is just a 40 minute drive from the highlands. All of these towns offer beautiful scenery and an array of activities for people to enjoy such as cycling, surfing, swimming, and hiking.

Dining Experiences

The Southern Highlands have many beautiful towns to explore with excellent restaurants and cafes. A few of our favourites in Berry include South on Albany http://southonalbany.com.au and Hungry Duck http://hungryduck.com.au whilst the following cafe is great for breakfast, lunch or take away treats - Berry Sourdough Bakery and Cafe http://berrysourdoughcafe.com.au. You also can't go past their meat pies!! In Bowral we certainly recommend a bit of fine dining at Biota Dining https://www.biotadining.com or Hordens Restaurant at Milton Park http://www.miltonpark.com.au/horderns. Their gardens and spa are also definitely worth visiting.  In Kangaroo Valley the General Cafe is great for breakfast and lunch https://www.thegeneralcafe.com.au

There are also a number of wineries that are worth visiting in the Southern Highlands, some of which have restaurants on site too.

Silos Estate  - winery and restaurant

Two Figs Winery and Restaurant - Mt Coolangatta (near Nowra)

Crooked River Winery - Gerringong

Finally, a short drive from Berry town brings you to Gerroa and Gerringong which offers fantastic scenery and a few lovely cafes. The Lookout Cambewarra Mountain - has a cafe which is lovely and views to die for!
