"Indooroopilly" was originally built in 1981, by writer/ poet Barbara Blackman (previously married to artist Charles Blackman) and her second husband, philosopher Marcel Veldhoven.
Marcel and Barbara built “Indooroopilly”, named after the Brisbane suburb where she grew up, as a nurturing retreat. It was their “salon in the scrub”. A place to share ideas and celebrate life with family and friends.
The 105 acre property sits atop Berry Mountain just 2 hours drive south of Sydney. Berry Mountain lies between the historic villages of Berry (10 minutes) and Kangaroo Valley (15 minutes).
The original part of the home was hand built and integrates a tapestry of textures such as mud & straw, bush rocks and local timbers. The unique roofline, handmade tiles and bespoke touches make "Indooroopilly "one of the most interesting and individual properties in the area.
